I recently downloaded Zone Alarm for free from www.download.com as a trial version. It gave me 15 days of trial for Zone Alarm Pro. After setting up a LAN network with Internet Sharing, i put up the Zone Alarm FireWall and i could no longer connect to the internet from the workstations. Why is that? I have already ticked my LAN connection in the "zones" place as "Trusted". Can someone please help? Is this a Zone Alarm Bug?

looks like you got a block on one of the tcp/ip connections or netbios or something, take a look through the program control tab and click custom, have a look what should or shouldnt be there......either that or something when u set up the lan

Hi
In the zone alarm pro...to set up for internet connection scaring (ics)
In the ZA control panel
Click the firewall tab at left
Main tab on top
Advanced button at bottom
Under Internet Connection sharing check the dot saying "this computer is an ics gateway" (on your host computer)
Type in the ip address in the box.
Click ok.The free version does not give you that option.

I'm not sure what happens after the 15 days trial are up....likely you will not be able to access the advanced options.
Unless something has changed recently the free version wont let you configure it much...I havn't run the free version in a loooong time. If I remember right I think I paid about 40 bucks US$ for 2 years of updates to za pro.
Check out the forums wawadave linked you to.XP's firewall works fine...it just doesn't have outgoing program control and you can't configure it either but it will let you network without problems. Apparently sp2 for xp will have more configuration ability in it's firewall.
Others here might know if Sygate or Kerio free firewalls allow networking.
As long as you have other protection like up to date OS, antivirus, spywareblaster, spywareguard, spybot, ad-aware, anti trojan (all can be downloaded free)....you shouldn't need to worry about outgoing program access. (unless you are into kazaa, pr0n sites, crack sites, opening strange emails, etc. that puts you at risk for trojans, worms, viruses and hijacks).I don't know if I just confused you more or not...but at least a few more options to look at.
Have a nice day.
