I am using the free version of zone alarm and it said there was an update to the program so I let it do it's thing. After restarting the computer it was asking me about what things I want to let access the net like Norton and such. One thing I forgot from when I first installed zone alarm is something called generic host process for win32. I am thinking this is something for windows and I need to say yes but not sure. Also now when I click on more info it doesn't open IE and tell me stuff about generic host it just opens the help files in zone alarm telling me what the more info button does so not sure what this update did to that setting or how to get it back.

Yes, you will need to enable the generic host otherwise IE won't work. One would expect that IE would go directly to the internet for you but MS has it set up to use this generic service to process some requests.
