This may be a rather dumb question to ask, but I would highly appreciate it if you guys could help me decide. Basically I would want to know which of these two internet security suites you guys prefer or think is better. I've been reading reviews from PC mag to Cnet, but in one its editors say Zone alarm is like the best, but its members dont really agree. In the other the editors think that Norton is good but it has its issues, but its members give it a rather good review. So I'm in the middle, I have NIS 03 and I enjoy it, but its getting rather old and it's time to upgrade but this time I would like to possibly give another program a chance. One thing that I enjoy about Norton is the pop up blocker, and I'm especially amazed that it blocks those annoying animated ads, and I doubt that Zone alarm has that, or am I wrong. I'm kind of leaning towards Norton but what I hear, is that it affects your computers performance to a degree where you can feel it, and with my not so top of the line computer specs, I havent leaned towards Norton all the way. So please help me decide. Thanks in advance.

I dont think any one is perfect but I use ZA full version and I find it excellent.I have read reviews that put it ahead of Norton.

Suffering is my solution

Zone Alarm for me....Repeated tests with the Shields Up port scan reports that my comp is fully stealthed. Of course, that's not meant to give a false sense of security... but I do like the idea of being stealthed and invisible.
In regards to Norton, I've never had experience with it. But there are many posts and comments about it being as bloated as a beached whale.
Good luck with your decision; take care.

My vote is for ZA. I use ZAISS. It has kept off the viruses and spyware, but I occasionally get a false positive. The ZA forum is very good. I haven’t used Norton in a couple of years or more, but it seems like they always have something screwed up.

I would pass on Zone Alarm and use Sygate which you can still find for free at oldversion.com
Zone alarm causes some conflicts and is HARD to remove if you have to uninstall it.
Sygate would be my choice.
Norton...I would say forget it, it's even HARDER to uninstall than ZA

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Don't know why XpUser4Real would recommend a dead firewall( was purchased and discontinued by Symantec- "Norton") when your question is which is the better internet security suite. The answer honestly is neither because they both struggle with trojans. Here are a few links for you to Suites which do well with all kinds of malware. And they all offer free trials.

Kaspersky
F-secure

Nod32 will offer a suite very soon.

Norton has always been known as a hog , if you have a lower end machine with not a lot of ram something other than nortons would be better. I have used ZA firewall for years without problems on a lower end machine. I am not running any suites, just run ZA firewall along with AVG free version and its been years since I had a virus . As far as popups go if you use any other browser other than IE they have built in popup blockers , I believe the paid ZA suite also does have popup blocking in it also . Free can be good , both Za and AVG are free so don't rule out some of the free ones out there . If you are getting a lot of viruses being picked off by your AV then I would be looking very hard at your ISP as 99% of email viruses should be picked off before they ever reach you...
