Hi I hope someone can help, I have some strange things happening on my Lap top. It is a highlander brand, connecting to the internet through a home network wireless system to a cable modem. I have installed Zone alarm free version, Adware Se, Spypot Search and destroy, Microsoft spyware, Norton Anti virus version 10.01.13 2003. These are all updated with the latest and all have been on my system for a while. Two weeks ago my Norton would not start automatically finally found a fix at norton had to go into admin tools / Services and into Norton Services and my startup had been changed from Automatic to disabled, I fixed it. Now 2 weeks latter my email protection is turned off in Norton and Zone Alarm did not start automatically even though checking in preferances it is set to. I have run all these programs in safe mode with the System restore turned off I did this two weeks ago as well but nothing much was found at the time and this time spybot only came up with DSO exploit this is all it finds most of the time I have also run adware, Microsoft spyware and Norton and came up free,
I do not have Kazza or any file sharing programs. What do you think could be causing this. Any help appreciated.

There are viruses that disable anti-virus programs. If you can get on the Internet, you can run an online scan. These are free and may not be affected by the bug that stops Norton working........

Thanks for the reply Michael, I tried that but it came up with nothing everything seems fine again now but I am still suspicious as to why it happened. Anyone out there know of a good monitoring program that would let you know when things change??
