Comment:

Last year I had Zone Alarm & installed it on a Windows Me machine, and it kept goofing up my System Restore, so I uninstalled and installed Sygate and I love Sygate, but for some reason I keep having problems with it, It will not stay running, in my events it says it has turned off 4 times in 30 minutes, I have to keep turning it back on, I have uninstalled and reinstalled it, so thought I would just try Zone Alarm again if there has been no problems running the Free one with XP, would appreciate knowing before I install it.

I have ran virus check, have adaware, have spybot (I have and checked it all even trojan scan) and have none. Infact I have so much software to check all these things that sometimes I think all this stuff just build up so much ie can't breath or move, one other thing I did notice when I am surfing and It cuts itself off (sygate) then my computer seems to freeze shortly after that no blue screen

You could also have trouble running Sygate is you did not do a complete uninstall of Zone Alarm.

No I never had Zone alarm installed on this computer that was my old one, I also uninstalled Sygate and downloaded a new copy and installed it and am haveing the same problem infact forgot to mention if I manually turn on Sygate after it shuts down my computer freezes. It may not be the problem? I seem to be very unstable right now if I turn it back on.

You may have already checked this...Is xp's firewall turned off?
By default install it is not enabled unless when you set up internet checked the option to turn it on.
To check....
My network places
View network connections
Right click your internet connection
Properties
Advanced
Under ICF uncheck "protect my computer....."
Ok your way out
I don't know it that is what is wrong but is something many people often overlook
To put it short...2 firewalls running at the same time will usually conflict. I run zone alarm pro on 2 xp machines and don't have any problems. I never did try sygate.

I guess that they fixed the problem then, this was last year and this was only the free version not the pro.
