Hi all. A few things here.
The first thing is actually something I posted over at ZoneAlarm forums, but I didn't get a single response, so I thought I'd try it here (I'll Copy/ Paste from that forum):
I have ZoneAlarm Security Suite version 7.0.462.000. Now I'm not exactly sure how long this has been like this, but when I look at "Overview" and the "Status" tab, the part that says "Blocked Intrusions" says this:
1 Intrusions have been blocked since install
0 of those have been high-rated
Below that where it says "Inbound Protection", it says:
The firewall has blocked 81311 access attempts
I've been using ZoneAlarm for years. I don't know if it makes any difference, but when I do "Updates", I don't do a "clean installation", I just update the version that I have. And, I always update the AntiVirus and AntiSpyware definitions.
The thing is, in the past, those "Intrusions" had climbed to much higher numbers, and yes, many were "high rated". Also, the number of access attempts has been holding at 81,311 for a while.
Anybody know what's going on?
Should I try the new Beta version I saw advertised on the home page of version 7.1.218.000?Next item: I recently got a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death), and the computer is set up to automatically re-boot. As I'm sure a lot of you already know, this creates a "Memory.dmp" file over in C:\Windows. And, there's a program from Microsoft that can "read" these files called "WinDbg". The thing is, when I try to use that program to open up the Memory.dmp file to find out what could have caused the BSOD, I get this message:
Symbol search path is invalid
Symbols cannot be loaded because symbol path is not initialized
Your debugger is not using the correct symbolsAnd.....those three messages above repeat throughout the results after I try to open that Memory.dmp file.
In case you're going to ask, the only thing I can think of that I was doing right before the BSOD was that I highlighted a word in Miscrosoft Word, right-clicked on it, and chose "Look up" for the definition.....and then that's when I think the BSOD appeared.
And the last thing: The other day my ZoneAlarm popped up with a message that it "caught" this:
Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Delf.xo
And then I can choose from a drop-down menu to Repair it, Quarantine it, Delete it, etc. I Deleted it.
An hour or so later, the same message pops up on-screen with the SAME EXACT Trojan. Could this Trojan - even though I had deleted it using ZoneAlarm - be replicating itself? I chose to Delete it again, and it is now the next day and nothing popping up so far......fingers crossed. Just in-case, I used a Registry cleaning tool to "clean house".
So what do you think? Any help, suggestions, or input on the above three issues would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pez

Turn off your system restore and scan. After removing the trojan turn it back on again.
