I have a friend who uses Yahoo Messenger Voice Chat. However, he finds that although his friends can hear him, he cannot hear them - except in a very muffled and inaudible way.

One of his friends suggested he disable Zone Alarm. I recommended that he did not do this but instead ensure that YM was given full access and server rights in the ZA Program Control Panel.

However, this did not work either. Perhaps he needs the full paid-for version of ZA or another firewall, which is more configurable??

Alternatively, it might be to do with his soundcard - the only other reason I can think of. However, perhaps there are known issues between ZA and YM?

Any light on this welcomed.

Thanks

Well i cant really see any reason why ZA should be problem. YM clearly have access when he is able to send and recieve (although poorly) A better guess would be some kind of problems with his audio settings, microphone or soundcard. Check and see if his volume settings are correct and reinstall the soundcard drivers .
