Subject: Zone Alarm 3 Problems
Comment:

Every time I start Zone Alarm, Dial-Up Networking pops up and says Windows cannot access crl.verisign.com would you like to connect. If I let it connect it just dials the internet but does not start any programs.
How do I stop this from happening? I tried reinstalling Zone Alarm.

Sorry, you suffer with the rest of us trusting saps. Zone Alarm 3.0 is badly buggy and they don't offer any useful advice. Zone Labs' uninstall instructions are not sufficient to allow installation of a previous working version. Their tech support only replies with info on downloading the new product. User comments about the product on cnet.com are increasingly negative while their own review is quite positive.

Unistall Zone Alarm! Go with Sygate and you will have no more problems. It is free just like TINY, but it is as easy to set up as Zone Alarm. Has more features too.

Jay

Same problem with Dial-up connection popping-up with latest version of Zone Alarm 3, did not do it with first release of 3 though.

Yes it does on my ISP as well. If I click to close the popup on the browser 4 times in succession than it does close but that is rather inconvenient. I must also close down Zone Alarm prior to shutdown on win98se or it hangs my system in conflict with Norton. I have managed temp work arounds but they better fix it soon or I will go back to 2.6 I have the CD rom so I can uninstall. Good luck to you on getting a response, I stayed on their help line for almost 30 minutes and no luck.

ZA Pro 2.x versions were ok - but all new versions of ZoneAlarm Pro up to v3.0.2.6 Final are buggy. The new interface sucks as there are no shortcuts - just click everywhere. I use Win2k Pro & the uninstall didn't work - it screwed up the services program & my networking completely. At the end I had to reinstall the OS again. Never using ZA again - Symantec NIS v4.5 is very good

ZA advertising Window Pops-Up repeadly, for a few nanoseconds, while using Outlook Ex
e-mail. How do I stop this annoyance?

By using Zone Alarm versions 2.6 or 3.0 pro. Will this steal some speed from my bandwidth? I am connected to cable.

Thanks

I've got the ISP problem too. But I have another problem: I can't see flash sites unless I turn ZoneAlarm Pro 3 off completely? Anyone know a work around?

Thanks very much

d

Re the Flash problem... this is a problem re the code ZoneAlarm inserts at the top of a page to prevent pop-ups.

The way to get around it, for whatever page you may be having trouble with, is to turn off Ad Blocking under 'Privacy' in ZA, but...

Since the page will still be in your local cache, if you just do redisplay in your browser, you'll have the same problem. You just need to go to Internet Options and delete the cache (in IE: tools/internet options/general/temporary internet files/ delete files)

I used to love ZA until the past two weeks. It's a buggy as anything and the pop-ups that occur during operation of Outlook are shocking (I also use XP). I feel like I am being spammed by a porn site or something .. and then my system shuts off anything I was using. I shut off ZA tonight and everything works great. Thanks for your comments everyone. It's nice to see that there are others in the same boat as I.
