This is an update for the popular Zfix.zip that helps uninstall Zone Alarm. I tried posting this before, but some people flagged this as maybe not legitimate. Good to be careful, folks, so I took no offense. I contacted Justin at Tom's Hardware, and I satisfied him that I am legitimate. In fact, I created Zfix.
I'm posting this update so that Zfix will remain available. The original site it was posted on is coming down.
If you click on the original link to Zfix, at greenwood.iwarp.com, you will be automatically redirected to Greenwoods Computer download page, which is the new URL I posted. The new URL is http://www.gwtechonline.com/gwc/dnl...
In the next few months, the greenwood.iwarp.com site is moving to a new server. The download link will not go with it, though. It belongs on my business site, which I want to seperate from my personal site. Greenwood's Computer is a subsidiary of Greenwood Technical.Zfix is a simple cmd file based on a set of instructions provided by Zone Alarm. I ran into the same problem others have, and finding the answer on the Zone Alarm site wasn't too easy. Neither was following the instructions I did find. So I wrote it out as a cmd file, posted it, and was amazed that it proved to be such a popular download.
Obviously, I enjoy all that traffic to my web site. More importantly, though, people seem to still need it. I'm surprised ZA hasn't fixed their product by now.
The contents of the cmd file are as follows, so you can simply create your own CMD if for some reason you still don't trust the zip file:
-------
@echo off
color 1f
echo.
echo ZFix created by Dick Greenwood
echo Greenwood Technical
echo www.gwtechonline.com
echo.
echo First, uninstall Zone Alarm for this program to work.
echo.
echo Next, press any key to remove all remainingZone Alarm files.
echo This will not affect anything else
echo and will not remove any Registry entries
