Comment:

When I run Ad-Aware SE I get 7 entries for
CoolWebSearch, and 6 for Zazzer. CW Shredder
doesn't find them, nor does Spybot S & D. Anyway, I remove them using Ad-Aware but they always return after reboot. They don't
seem to "do" anything malicious, but it bugs me that I can't delete them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Could it be they picked up from one of the lists entered by Spy Bot or other antivirus programs you have on board?

Have you checked their locations on your system?

Have you run AdAware in safe mode and removed them?

Give ewido a try.http://www.ewido.net/en/

I have fixed two p.c's in the last week that I scanned with adaware and S&D.
I then scanned with ewido, It found 246 on one p.c and 152 on the other.
seems like its the most powerful out there at the moment.

Good Luck

Regarding Ray Peate's response, I did everything recommended, and still the
damn stuff came back. At least Ad-Aware
says it's not the worst Spyware out there.
-Thanks, and I'll keep trying any additional suggestions.

A month later, I've found my Zazzer and CoolWebSearch culprits...thanks to a program called X-ray PC. --There are 2 modules
within Omniquad Total Privacy (that caused Ad-Aware to list the above Spyware). They are: 1) Omniquad's Pop-up Blocker, which is licensed by Osborn Technologies, and 2) Omniquad's BHO blocker.

Removing both modules gave me a clean Ad-Aware scan upon reboot. -I hope this info
helps somebody!
