I downloaded ZoneAlarm firewall product version 7.1 (free version) and installed it.
Before I installed this and got it running my broadband internet was working but once I got ZA runnin my network access icon jus says "local area only" (sometime of that sort.
What I had to do was allow access for the domain to the internet from the firewall but I aint got clue how its done. I can get the Internet explorer to gain access by click allow on the programs menu in ZA but I cant find the "domain" thing.
I knew the prob was ZA so I uninstalled it jus so I can access the net. Ive got windows firewall on but I really want ZAlarm.
Zonealarm is a pretty intuitive firewall that automatically sets itself up correctly on install. Reinstall the program and choose novice for your user type. Allow ZA to automatically configure your connection and program access to your broadband connection. Restart and everything should work. If not, you will need to open the ZA interface and click on Firewall and then Zones tab to see what is listed. You should have an entry for your nic and it's ip address. Usually something like 192.168.1.1 or pretty close for the last number. If not, you will need to manually enter it using the add button on the page.
Selected Beginner and let it do what it has to do. Found my i.p address and selected 'Internet' where it says 'Trusted' and 'Internet'. My network access icon then said 'Local and Internet' but Internet pages still dont load.
Is it cause I got Norton Protection center with Norton Internet security installed?
Ive uninstalled ZA thats how im writing in here right now
