Comment: I have been having a problem with a virus for a couple of days now and I can't seem to get rid of it. I did a search on your site and found that a lot of people with the same problem had been given very good advice. The virus is in sys_ext. dll and is Trojan horse Startpage.EE. I have ran CW Shredder and still the problem persists. I also ran stinger as somebody on this site had suggested, with the same result. I am hoping somebody could please advise me. Any help would be greatly appretiated. Thanks. I have a hijackthis log if that helps. Thanks.

Reply: (edit)Startpage is in the database files of Trojan Remover: this is a "trial" program. It will run for 30 days on your system and then you must decide if you want to purchase it or not. 30 days trial of a fully functioning trojan program is well worth the download time, I think. It can be found at: www.simplysup.com/tremover/download.html

Reply: (edit)Thanks Ray The software gave me the option to disable the sys_ext. dll or delete it. Will my PC function correctly if I delete this file or is it an essential part of Windows XP? If I do delete the file can I replace it or do I have to install XP from scratch? Thanks again for the help.
