For some reason I can't enter the product info, but it is an Acer Aspire 4530.
I was using a Facebook application (Compare People) that supposedly no one has had troubles with in the past, and after clicking on something in it (the "skip this pair" link, which I clicked many times before) a page came up that looked kind of like the "My Computer" folder came up and appeared to be downloading something while a message saying Adobe Reader wouldn't open kpet coming up.
I closed all this, which closed the web page I had up as well which makes me think that it wasn't a folder that had been brought up but that I had been taken to a different page.
Nothing appeared different after this, but I've been afraid to open any files or shut down the computer, and I am noticing now that in my start bar where the shut down button is, there is a yellow shield-shape with an exclamation point in it over this button meaning there are updates to be installed and I'm not sure if this was there before. I'm worried these 'updates' are something harmful.
I don't really know what to do now. Could someone help?
