My yahoo email account keeps sending out blank emails to everyone in my address book. I have AVG and run an update EVERY night and a complete scan. Does anyone know what this may be?

How do you know the emails are being sent from your Yahoo account? Are they in your "Sent" items folder?

Good catch! It's not in my sent folder. However, people are replying to them and they're coming right to me. Also, I'm getting delivery failure notices from some people. Any clues?

Yep. Your email address is being spoofed. What that means is that someone who has you in his/her address book has a virus infected computer. The virus goes through that address book, sending emails to people in the address book, and making them appear to actually be sent from another address in that address book. In this case, your email addy.

The undeliverable emails are being sent from that same computer to addresses that no longer exist and being delivered to you because your email is in the header as the sender.

Nothing you can do about it short of closing that Yahoo account and creating another.

Actually, I have almost the same thing. It is not showing the messages in my sent email folder, but it is sending the message to every address in my yahoo address book. I have never sent an email to everyone, so somehow, my yahoo address book has been harvested. I assume that this either happened by a virus on a computer where I logged in to my yahoo account, or by some third party just password cracking yahoo accounts. I would sure like to know if there is a fix, or if my contacts are going to be bombarded with potentially dangerous spam emails in perpetuity.

To jump on the band wagon I have the same issue. E-mails are being sent from my account like "check this ..... site out it's cool" I have contacts in my account that bounce back b/c the contacts no longer exist. The only common factor that I have found occurs when i might have clicked on a spam e-mail and shortly afterwards I get the bounce back e-mails. Looks like yahoo has a major issue on their hands. I'm going to be abandoning my yahoo account after having this address for years.
