Subject: XP won't log on corrupt registry OS: XPCPU/Ram: ?Model/Manufacturer: Microsoft |
Comment: My computer won't start up/log on at all. I am using Windows XP home edition. I have tried booting in safe mode etc but it comes up with the same error message every time at the log on screen: "the configuration registry database is corrupt". I was able to log on a few times when this message first showed, when logged on i noticed some icons on my desktop that i had not seen before, called "yinstall", "a" and some others which i deleted. Now, I cannot log on at all no matter what I do. I am very lost. ~shell~

Reply: (edit)Try booting into safe mode once again and choose "last known good configuration" the follow the prompts. Should it let you to windows go to start> control panel> add/remove programs> scroll down to and uninstall msn messenger. Post back and let us know if you were able to do this please.
