just read some opinions of XP home edition, i think they refer to the period when xp came out, and they where bad reviews on XP, and they said xp was the worst windows in terms of security that has ever came out. My question is, whit the updates , the situation has change? microsoft resolve the problems? anyone have any ideia on this?

You need to start reading up a little bit on
windows security. A very recent bug has
appeared that allowed SSL connections(you
know the kind you use when shopping on
secure internet sites?) was vulnerable in
ALL versions of Windows and the linux
browser, konqueror. Within three days konq
was patched and MS released a press
statement saying that it wasn't such a big
deal. BS, they are just saying that because
the problem is a major deficiency with the
way all windows do certificate handling and
requires a MAJOR rework of all win OSs if
its evenpossible.

The XP firewall has come under scrutiny as
well. Supposedly its worse than not running
one.

I also seriously doubt that the automatic
update features win2k currently uses or if
it doesn't it will with SP1 are totaly
secure either.

Most security alerts are for win OSs and are
very slowly patched, all MS is good at is
attempting to pull the blinds over most
peoples heads regarding the seriousness of
the problems and then fixing them on their
own time if ever.

xp security is a big concern. And that xp "firewall" is a joke.Trip is right.M$ doesn't want to admit how insecure the system is."no big deal" to them is a VERY BIG deal to me!Take for instance the open "unplug and play port" they have for a patch for.Huge blunder and a major hole in xp security.Take Care JB

i have xp, and i had my firewall and antivirus finely tuned. the hacker just used wxp's builtin backdoor to hack me...but i've closed that hole now. i hate how XP is by default trusting of everyone.

the XP firewall only protects you from incoming connections, and that's not even a complete protection. anyone who uses it will be lulled into a false sense of security

the XP piece of s--t firewall, totally wide opens to the hackers, also the WPA feature (Windows Product Activation) and could see the user information pretty totally illegally(Privacy). You should download the firewall program and disabling the XP's firewall before your firewall software start effects.

"Anti-Privacy Acts, get Win95 or Win98Se OS!"
