Comment: This is a good description of my problem, which I found on a Windows help site called Annoyances.org. Could this be a virus that no one knows about yet? It's interesting that the date posted is close to when our trouble started. On Monday, August 12, 2002 at 10:42 am, julian myerscough wrote: >I have XP. PC has developed a problem when suddenly many programs start opening automatically even when the mouse is left alone - the start menu starts flashing up and endless programs, search files. wordpad - indeed anything tries to open. Then everything settles down. Then it all happens again. Is it Xp or the mouse driver? (NB i have tried the simple operation of cleaning the mouse!!!). I have no virus (tried four or five top quality virus checks) - help! I am having identical trouble on my home PC, running Windows XP Professional. Norton/Symantec says I'm "clean." Any ideas?

Reply: (edit)Mouse Driver Issue. Is this a laptop? I have encountered this with about 10 Micron laptops this year. I updated the driver and that seems to have fixed the problem. Although, I've only seen it on win2000 not on XP.
