Someone please help me! ... for about a month my homepage has been www.startnow.com ... i did not set it for that site ... it did it on it's own and i can't change it now ... i've tried alot of things (spybot S&D, Adaware6.0, etc... ) and nothing :(

You can bet your bottom dollar it didn't do it "on its own". Please start the removal process over again - update Spybot & AdAware & CWShredder and your AV. Go offline and run a full AV system scan followed by the three mentioned consecutively. If still no good then download/install/run HiJackThis & ask for someone to review it before you post the log. If you post please advise what you have already done, and what AV you are using and do you have a firewall?? When you've cleaned your system please download/install/run (and keep updated) an anti-hijack prog such as SpyGuard. Good luck V...

I had the same thing but with Popnav.com for the last three weeks and tonight I used Webroot Spy Sweeper and the problem has been deleted. Trisha

thank you for your reply Valerie !! :) i see now that the problem was with CWShredder... I had an outdated version and when clicking 'update' it would freeze up ... i simply dloaded the new version from the website and it found that sucka and removed it :D .. (still freezes when i try to update tho.. strange) problem solved ! as for prevention .. i installed "SpyWareBlaster" what do you think of this program compared to "SpyGuard" ?? and is there others (especially freeware) that you could recommend ?? thanks again....
