Use "msconfig" and see if it is listed and then try to delete wupdater while you are in the "safe mode"? You can also access it by opening "regedit" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr and remove wupdater there if all else fails.

First you need to remove the peper.a.trojan. Download this Peper uninstaller. Peper Uninstaller Double click the uninstal.exe to run it. There are no popup boxes and no prompts. It runs automatically and stops when it's finished. It's best to leave the internet connection on. Reboot. Then run an Ad-aware scan making sure you follow the instructions below. It's important that you have "Scan My Hosts File" checked. After you've scanned with AAW and removed all objects, reboot and run another HJT scan and post the new logfile here. Download Ad-aware Build 6.181 (free version) from here. This link will tell you how to update your ref files (which you should do after installation and before each scan because they are updated frequently). This link will tell you how to run a full custom scan. When you click "scan now", make sure "custom scan" is checked, not "smart scan". This link will tell you how to remove unwanted objects.
