Comment:

When I turn my computer on my hardrive starts running and won't stop. I was told to perform a Ctrl+Alt+Del and look at processes to end these processes one at a time to see which one would stop my hardrive. I noticed that this began when updated Win Service pack 1. After a few hours my hardrive stopped and performed normally. Then I downloaded the rest of the windows updates and my hardrive started running incessantly again. I noticed in proccesses an application called wuauclt.exe. What is this? Is this a virus? And is it related to my hardrives non-stop activity?
Thanks.

I read somewhere where it is related to the trojan cult B virus. Should I just delete this from my registry or is it not necessary. My Auto update feature is turned off.

Hopefully, someone else will "jump in here"! Meanwhile, have you done a trojan scan? Here's one:
online trojan scan
Also, Trojanhunter has a 30 day free trial period. It may not hurt to install that and see if it comes up with anything. I use it and it's updated frequently so make sure you update after installing it if you decide to use it. Trojanhunter
Good luck!

I have a windows 2000 install and I noticed
that I also have wuauclt.exe running on my pc
is this normal. I have grissoft avg installed and also norton 2004 installed and am still having problems...my system keeps unloading the svchost.exe file every 1-2 hours and I have to restart... seems to me the same symptoms as the pc hell welchia worm
any way it could be still on my pc when 2 virus utilities are supervising...
