I am getting a listing of wrtr.exe in the taskmanagers of many windows2000 prof. machines. When the machine is restarted, and after loging into the system, the systems shows the hourglass (waiting) sign and doesn't reach the desktop. This exe is found in the startup and deleting it and then rebooting the system makes the system succesfully boot to the desktop except that the systems prompts an error saying it couldn't find wrtr.exe (as it was in the startup, maybe it is being invoked by some setting in the registry). Checking on the Internet has resulted in no clues. If any of you have an answer or clue, let me know. It seems it makes the system slow too.
I am also encountering this problem these 2 days. Not only takes very long time to boot and reach the desktop, network and internet access aslo got problem. Pestpatrol and Symantec AV cannot find it!! After using TuneUp Utilities - Startup manager to stop it runs on startup, system will then back to normal. What's this file doing for??
