Comment: I'm new at this also, I bought an iPod on Sunday. I went to download my music on Monday and realized that my computer was infected with the worm virus. On Tuesday, I went into safe mode and downloaded the Symantec patch on to my desktop. I logged back in, disabled system restore and ran the patch. I rebooted and ran the patch again and enabled system restore. My computer was a bit slow but after an hour was back to normal. I tried to download the iPod software twice but my computer froze each time. I was told by an Apple techie this a.m. that the virus was probably still on my system and that I would probably have to do a complete computer cleanup in order to run the iPod software. Question: Does this guy know what he is talking about or is there something I can do to make the software run without completely cleaning my system? HELP!!!

Reply: (edit) Go to a place like Trend Micro and do a free online scan and see if it finds anything . Which worm did you have SASSER ? Did you use a removal tool for it or just update the AV and runn it , if you just ran AV this won't clean up the registry changes some of these do , also if you have XP or ME you have to turn off the restore function when cleaning viruses .
