Subject: worm? RPC-shuts down my computer
OS: windows xp
CPU/Ram: 1.6GHz 256Mb
Comment:

I have a problem with the Rtc(remote procedure call) whitch is shutting down my computer, althought I know how to stop it from exiting windows(start->run, type: shutdown /a) I still can't open the "running processes" window(ctrl+alt+del) and the norton antivirus and firewall programs can not be started(starts but is shut down again).

Ill try to get info about my running processes, to see if anyone recognizes a virus/worm among them.

Plz help me I depend on my computer..

Looks like you have the blaster worm or some other variant of the same monster. Network associates (mcaffee) has a little removal tool in their site....it's free...put on floppy and unplug your PC from the network, then try logging in safe mode, and run the scan utility.

Hope it helps...

use that tool to shut off dcom, then follow the instructions and get the removal tool from http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.html and patch from ms.
