Specs: Windows XP Service Pack 3, 2.128 GHz / 1015 MB

Worm has destroyed all processes, so cannot download software from internet. Did download malwarebytes onto disk but cannot get it to load in safe mode. have already run patch and synantec worm fix twice in safe mode but it says I don't have W32 blaster. Any suggestions?

OKay, ,me again. Since I could not get on the internet through my pc, I downloaded malwarebytes onto a disk from daughter's pc with Vista, which is not vulnerable to the worm. Alas! the virus had made using my d drive impossible, even in safe mode. So, I finally got an idea and went to add remove programs and added the malwarebytes that way. It is working. IMMEDIATELY picked up the infection too.
BTW, according to the Symantec worm blaster fix that I ran TWICE from Safe Mode, this is NOT the worm blaster, but claims that it is. So, the usual fixes do not work. Will keep you all posted on my progress.
Thanks again for being here. And btw, I finally fixed my stuttering problem: I went to device manager.IDE ATA ATAPI Primary controller. It was in PIO mode instead of DMA. I uninstalled that device and shut down. When I restarted, the new device was installed. I shut down again, and VOILA! DMA Ultra Mode was back up.

HA HA! I found out about the wormblaster and how to destroy it through the internet, but it wasn't actually a worm blaster, but a FAKE trojan that disabled ALL my processes--system restore being the FIRST one--so the wormblaster fix did not work! Truth be told, I actually did the malwarebytes loaded onto cd via safe mode through add/remove programs due to my OWN ingenuity--since the nasty fake worm had disabled my D Drive, so this e-tard is taking that bit of credit for herself! Oh, and I hope this helps others who face the same issue.
But here is another poser. Yes, the malwarebytes is good, but have been informed that this is not VIRUS protection! CRAP! I already uninstalled my AVG free, and now it will NOT reinstall, the bastige! Okay, I am done with them. Any suggestions on another one that is free AND good? I HATE being the cheapest cheapskate around, but I am a minister (um, an HONEST one), so very poor, and I am on MajorGeeks right now, but there are just so many to choose from! Do you guys know of a good one that is effective and as easy to use as AVG? Peace and thanks for everything!

Thanks so much! I am VERY paranoid after a 32-hour ordeal trying to figure out a war to install a fix for a worm blaster that didn't exist on a computer that would do nothing--not even the volume control would work. I will try this AVAST. And, I HAVE heard positive things of it already, so one more recommendation takes me there. Peace.
