A friend's PC gotinfected by the W32.Klez.E@mm virus. Although we managed to remove the virus itself, it seems that all the documents produced in Word were permanently damaged by the virus. Symantec's customer support claims that there no hope. Please let me know if you know a way of recovering the documents. Thx.

The ResQdata utility will search for data types on "raw sectors" of your hard disk.

If your drive was not badly fragmented you should be able to recover many deleted files as well at 'parts of older data'. This is assuming that there are some sectors that have not already been overwritten.

Be sure to copy the utility to another drive and save the recoverd files to another drive. This will keep you from overwriting files that you have not yet recovered. The more that you use the drive until your files are recovered, will give you less of a chance for a full recovery.

This utility already knows different word formats and will find the files easily. It will also let you recover other file types as well as let you teach it new types.
