Comment: Ok. Listen up. When I press ctrl-alt- delete I see the program Winupd.exe. The problem is I tried to remove it from the registry. But it keeps coming back??? Could this be because there are different accounts on my system? I mean my sister and my parents all have separate inlog accounts on xp. I ran HijackThiss and this is what i got: C:\jackthisz.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&ar=iesearch R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.kurizu.com/ R0 - Reply: (edit)You mispelled HijackThis, so you did not see the posting rule (popup). Maybe Kev will show mercy and not kill it right away (and maybe not). Check below for the removal instructions: http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/E/Enterprise.asp

Reply: (edit)Hi kai, Uninstall new.net http://www.newdotnet.com/#remove Next, move Hijack This to a permanent directory like c:\program files\hijack this\hijackthis.exe. This way we can make backups if something goes wrong. Put a check next to these, click "fix checked" and reboot. Reply: (edit)Not sure if you've got this fixed by now. I have the same problem today (5/23). Deleteing the files and registry values doesn't remove it. I found that mmc.exe and notepad.exe in system32 had been modified to contain the virus. The size did not match what I had on another computer. So I searched for .exe files with the same modified time and copied good files from another computer. write protect your floppy before copying them, otherwise it will get infected. I had to copy from DOS. There are probably others. Delete the files and registry entries one more time and then reboot.
