Anyone know of a simple spyware removal program that will get rid of this infection. I really don't want to use Hijack this and run logs or format my harddrive to get rid of this problem. Also as a temporary fix (as this is my son's computer) if I use Mozilla as default browser instead of Explorer in which I think it is encoded will it remain inactive. I have unticked it from the start up list. But as soon as you go into explorer up it pops again and again making the operation of the computer impossible. We do have good virus/spyware/firewall protection but got a feeling that my son (an adult no kid) turned it off because of the ram it uses and well you can guess what happened next. Haven't run Norton yet as it is late and I am tired but will do tomorrow, will give Spybot a try any other suggestions that might work if I hit a deadend. Easy ones I hope....lol Thanks

Thanks

Is it Winantispyware that you are trying to get rid of?

Two very good all-rounder free antispyware applications are SUPERAntispyware (SAS) and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM)

Click here to to start MBAM download

Download SAS Free Edition from here

Download, install and update don't run the scans yet.

Next reboot your pc into safe mode. Use the tap F8 during startup method. Don't use msconfig to select startup type "safe mode".

Running the scans in safe mode will offer the best chances of complete removal. They are fine to run in normal mode if you wish.

Once in "Safe mode" run the SAS complete scan and then run the MBAM Full scan. Remove everything they find.

MBAM and SAS are very effective at all kinds of spyware removal.

They are fine to run and will do your system no harm.

I had a quick look and there are references to SAS for winspyware removal. Run MBAM also to catch anything that might be left behind.

My suggestion is to buy a little more ram and go with Mcafee because its very solid. I know it gets bad reviews but i use it all the time and just as long as u have the system resources to back it up, its the best you can use in my opinion.
