Somewahere al9ng my internet browsing I picked up a "winservs.exe". It seems to have resided in my start menu and I'm unable to delete it. When I try to delete, I get the message "winservs is in use by windows and can not be deleted". It seemes to cause all sorts of "pop-ups" when my cable modem is functioning. I've tried using the registry to delete it but I'm unable to find winservs or any thing close to it. One of our techs at work suggested I boot up in the safe-mode then try to delete it. My dos accumen leaves some thing to be desired or I would try to delete it from windows that way. Would you have any suggestions??
I was able to delete the problem by rebooting my PC in "safe-mode" then going through start/ settings/taskbar & start menu/start menu programs/remove. Scrolling down to and clicking on start, I highlighted the offensive icon and it was deleted. ' hope this may help someone else. Thanks all for your responses. George
