Comment: I have a OEM version of Norotn Anti-Virus installed on my system .I also have Norton Utilities 2001, retail purchase .Last year when my subsription to the Anti-Virus exp. I was able to renew it for another year for $10 ! My subscription is about to expire again , I went to the live update and subscription renewal . I had the choice between upgrade or subscription renewal . I chose to renew my subscription .When the price of 24.95 popped up , I backed out of the process ? I still have about 3 weeks to go B/4 it expries ! Why so much just for a subscription renewal , would I be better off upgrading , if yes , which version works best with WinMe. Must I uninstall my current version including the virus definitions ? Or can I simply install a upgrade over to older versuion ? Thanks to All and Merry X-Mas ,Nick

Reply: (edit)Nick, Symantec is pulling its support of 2001. For your system and since you like Systemwrks and have ME, I would recommend that you get Systemworks pro 2002. Since NAV 2003 has come out you can buy the 2002 CD at Ebay or other websites for $10-$15. You will have to uninstall all the Norton products before you install the new programs. Go to the Syamntec website and follow the removal instruction carefully. There are so many removal problems, that the Symantec provides removal tools to get rid of all the files, should you have a problem installing another Symantec product. These tools are "SYMCLEAN" for Systemworks, and RNAV.EXE for the antivirus program. If you are looking for a new antivirus product I recommend ESET's NOD32. the highest rated product at the virus Bulletin site(Norton is in second place), or SOLO from www.srnmicro.com. Take care and all the best!
