Anyone know if this is a virus, if so how do I get rid of it. I have run the klezfix tool and it says it cannot remove one viral file, any ideas ? I am running win98 and outlook 6.

Yep, that is part of the W32.Klez virus. Would really help it you knew where it was on you disk. On Windows ME, KLEZFIX.exe can not remove copies in the _RESTORE directory so you must disable System Restore and then re-enable it. But on Win98???

So where is it? Why can you not delete it? Have you ran KLEZFIX.exe again to check that it is gone?

i have the same virus mine is winkb6.exe. i think it has a component the syswb6.exe if that file has a slanted pc icon with a shattered monitor then that's it. i'm using windows 2000 professional. i can't delete it the message said:" access denied. the source file maybe in use." what does it mean. and i also notice that at start up my firewall is registering that it's preparing to access the internet. i think that's the reason you can't delete it because it is running. i tried something with winkb6.exe, i deny it's access. you can do this by right clicking your mouse go to properties then to securities then deny all access. the following day, the icon change into an exe icon. i'm not sure what's next. that's it. hope it will help. if you're able to remove it please tell me. and thank you. by the way i located it at winnt\system32. hope this will help.

a follow up--after denying access restart to safe mode, locate the file and delete it.
