Hello
I hope that someone can help me with this.
I've scaned my computer with norton antivirus and it seems that i have a virus named winhoo32.dll which norton can not delete or fix for some reason.
What should i do to remove it?
Please help me...
Hope to hear from u soon.

Please post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with the virus/spyware/hijacker can be identified.
Please download HJTsetup.exe from this link http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click "next" in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the "Select Addition Tasks" dialogue.
Put a check by "Create a desktop icon" then click "Next" again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click "Finish" and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the "Do a system scan and save a logfile" button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log and post it in this thread.Do not fix anything yet unless you know what you are doing. This is a powerful tool that can crash the computer if used improperly.
Please download ComboFix to the Desktop from this link:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/combofix.exe
Double-click combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
(Don't click on the window while the program is running, it may cause your system to hang.)Please post the combofix.txt log

Please download SmitRemFix from this link http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip Then extract the contents to your desktop.
Open the "SmitfraudFix" folder and double-click "smitfraudfix.cmd"
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
No not run any other options as they will damage the desktop of an uninfected computer.

Run Hijack This in normal mode and remove this item:
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winhoo32 - winhoo32.dll (file missing)
And you log will be clean.
Download the latest version of http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
Click the "Download" button to the right.
Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement". The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java. Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the "coffee cup" icon next to it.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed
. Then from your desktop double-click on jre-1_5_0_08-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.
If you are not already running this, you should add "Spywareblaster" to your arsenol of antispyware tools, just do a google search for spywareblaster, download it,install it, and update it. Its free and runs in the background, so you don't actually run it, and re-writes malicious script before it can install on your computer. Look for updates weekly as there is no auto-update on the free version.

thx a lot for your tine and help...just one more thing...should i enable script blocking on norton antivirus?...

Yes, then re-hide your hiiden files by reversing that process and delete Smitrem. You should keep ATF-Cleaner as it is a nice quick cleanup tool. If you want to keep ewido, it is a trial, it will update for a long time but it has to be done manually.
Out of curiosity will you see if combo fix will run now. I have seen the glitch in Hijack This which is not a problem, but have not seen combofix fail to run.

I have run combofix and it works just fine...but it detected some infested files.here is the report.

just what I was looking for, that should have you clean. If you have any other problems let us know.

thre is something that i would like to ask u...since i began to remove the viruses i have i seen that my system is using a lot of resources...(im referring to the commit charge in the taskmanager window....it shows 430...and usually it never exceeded 300)...this is making my comuter really slow...can u help me with this...

There should be an Ewido icon in the system tray on your desktop. Right click on it and select 'Disable Guard'.

no...sorry
there is no such button there biut there is "resident shield"...should i disable that one

My apologies. Open the Ewido program. At the top, select- 'Shield'. On the left, disable the Shield. Take the tick out of the Self protection Box. Reboot and see if you notice a difference now.

:) there is no reason to apologize. but still it uses a lot of resources and there isn't any noticeble difference...the big difference appears when i close ewido and drops down from 390 to 350...and it's still to much :(...maybe there are to many applications in startup?...any other advice?

I will let Jabuck offer other suggestions. Just thought i'd mention the Ewido Shield because many users complain about the resource use.

I don't really see a problem with that but murr is probably right. I suspect that it is a small conflict going on with Norton and Ewido so probably best to uninstall Ewido along with one other program if it is a worry to you.
Go to start> control panel>add/remove programs and uninstall Ewido and thrixxx if found:
Then navigate to and delete this folder if found.
C:\Program Files\thriXXX
Let us know if that helped.

yes done it all...and it worked...the commit charge is under 300...
Thanks again for your time and support.

I have to same problem as above with winhoo32.dll, could jabuck please respond to my forum message, thanks I really need your help
