okay so heres the thing

i want to format my C drive and re-install windows xp. i did it smoothly on my laptop but encountering problems while doin so on my other computer

when the "press any key to boot from disk" appears, i do so n it goes on to the blue screen which says "windows setup", after this xp installation/format options should start, but it doesnt

pls help!

It should say loading files before you get to the format options. Some basic things to try are, clean the CD. I've seen a dirty CD cause install problems. You could also load defaults in the BIOS but make sure that the CD is the first boot device.

could also be a faulty HD. What I have done in cases like that is used DBAN:
http://dban.sourceforge.net/
and get it to autonuke the hard drive.
Then, if it does so without errors, try installing windows again.

umm okay, thats new

yesterday, the setup started, the screen came and it was formating BUT now it gets stuck at some percentage while loading or at other places OR the keyboard stops working, so i cant press enter or F8 to agree to the agreement :/
help!

See if you can format the HD to NTFS with another boot CD first.

try another keyboard...they are real inexpensive now, if you are using a USB keyboard, I would suggest you try a ps2 one.
