Specs: Windows XP Home Edition
I started using my DELL desktop the past few days and yesterday was the first time I did a Windows update in like 3 years or so since I haven't been using the computer. After the update I restarted as it told me. Unfortunately it doesn't boot up anymore. I tried safe mode and last known config and this is the error msg I keep getting with a blue screen:
STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

I do not have a backup CD on me.... I also did not back up my files... Can anyone offer advice??? and Can I still recover my files??? Please HELP =(

I think you need to do a start-up repair ,From a disc , this tutorial from bleeping computers explains how

You may also not have a Full install disk , so this will do .

Nb. you do not need to use a torrent downloader for this disc just
double click on the down loaded link and select the browser of choice .

Some people have reported problems when they have burned this disk with Nero , I have had no problems with Vista's burner or Cdburnerxp ,
just slow the burn speed down a bit ,

If start-up repair does not do it for you try system restore .

A repair from a disc will work when sometimes it does not from a HDD .
