I've got major problems!
My PC started acting up about a week ago - strating off by getting "stuck" & not responding but quite quickly after a while the mouse curser would go crazy on anything I pointed it at as if I was holding down the left click button (when I wasn't - just moving it over things) so that anything the mouse went over started to open a dozen times over, including ads & links on websites. Then after a few minutes of going crazy & opening what seemed to be hundreds of screens & not responding to anything else I tried, including ctrl-alt-del, it would then start displaying many different error messages (can't remember specifics cos it would all happen so fast). Then after flashing all these things the screen would then just show up as a picture of a pixelated female face in black & white (which I don't personally have in my own docs).
The only thing I could do to get it out of this was to power off the computer by holding down the power switch. This all happened several times. So I tried doing different virus scans & none brought up anything, except to say that my firewall had been disabled which I then quite promptly enabled.
Then the worst happened - I switched it on & it wouldn't even load up windows - so now I can't even look for virus files or try to repair it! It just says that windows did not shut down properly & needs to start in either of 4 options ie safe/ normal/command promt/ last known etc but I've tried them all & none work - it just goes back to this message. for a split second a blue screen will flash on after it tries loading windows that says something like unexecutable_BOOT.exe (not really sure cos it's really fast!)
I tried putting in my Windows xp Pro disc & doing the repair part but it didn't fix anything. So I'm wopndering if anyone knows what else I should do to try to save all my docs on my pc esp photos in MY PICTURES cos I haven't got a back-up of these.
If I re-install Windows - will I lose all my docs?? or will it just erase some program files?

While booting can you get to safe mode by Contiually tapping the F8 key while it is booting up?
