Hello all,
My partner recently installed Gator on our pc, which i have removed with Ad-aware.
My firewall now shows when i am connected to the internet all traffic is running through Windows explorer rather than IE. I think Gator has somehow altered my system. I can block Windows explorer but IE will then not connect. My question is this...
Will traffic running through Windows Explorer cause any security issues? ie. by running through Explorer are security features in IE being bypassed?

I've always been big on keeping my pc secure and this is really bugging me.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Lesley,

I have removed Gator and GAIN and the GAIN applications **sigh** entirely from my system, but they seem to have made some changes that i cannot restore.

Explorer connects to the internet? Newsgroups:

First, download "Ad Adware", can download it at Tucows or Cnet. Run it and get rid of any Spywares!

Second, open Regedit
Start - Run (type) "regedit" (no quotes)

Export the key before editing the Registry, this is VERY important.

Scroll down to:
HKEY Current User
\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\BrowserNewProcess
"BrowseNewProcess"="yes"

In the right pane, highlight BrowseNewProcess
Right-click and select: Modify (change NO to YES)

.
On the next reboot ZA should not prompt you about Explorer.
Note: this is documented at the ZA website. (FAQ)
