Windows explorer continually stops working. i have Vista and about every 10 seconds it brings up the screen again. i have scanned multiple times with Ad-Aware,AVG, and Windows Defender. they keep finding a couple things that start with Zlob.

Trojan - Removal Instructions here. Not sure about Vista but you could see if the entries given in the manual instructions check out:
http://www.spywareremove.com/remove...Keep an eye on this freebie too. It's good for finding/fixing trojans but I don't see Vista mentioned yet:
A-SQUARED FREE - JUST DOWN PAGEDerekW

i ran those and they find stuff but i have to buy it to remove the infections, which i can not do. i ran again with Ad-Aware, but that found nothing, but Explorer keeps shutting down. know of anything else that might help? sorry for the long response time.

Are you sure you selected the free version of ASquared "just down the page" (rather than the paid for version)?. You shouldn't have to buy anything if the free version finds a problem. It should fix it (if ASquared is capable of doing so, and it usually is).

okay i scanned with the free version of ASquared and it found 2 viruses one ended with Zlob.bpl and the other was Zlob.bon
i did a deep scan after removing these and it didnt find anything, yet i am still receiving the "Windows Explorer has stopped working" screen. i have been reading around and some people have said to turn off the User Account Control. you have to go to the User Accounts to turn it off, which is located in the Control Panel, right? Which i am unable to access because of the Error screen. thanks for your help so far.

It seems like you might now have the aftermath of Zlop even though it has gone.
I don't know anything about Vista so maybe you could go to the Vista forum and post the question about turning off the User Account Control etc. Don't make the post too much like this one because duplicate posts often get removed.
