Windows defender won't update. It's constantly telling me it's out of date but when i run the automatic update programme it say "no new updates are available" yet the exclaimation mark remains on the defender icon. No matter what way i try to update this is the result. Please help!

Hi, thanks for responding! I have avg free antivirus installed. I've had this pretty much since i got the laptop and it doesn't seem to have clashed with defender although defender has sometimes insisted it's turned of when it isn't! It's always accepted it is turned on though after a few attempts to persuade it! Thanks, Tom

After a disaster at the start of the year when i got trogan vundo's and some others and had to completely reboot to get rid of em, only tracking cookies. nothing else. thanks, Tom
