I'm trying to run automatic windows update every wednesday at 2 pm. 2PM rolls around and nothing happens, even waited like 45 min. The PC is behind MS Proxy 2.0 on our corporate network. What do i need to do to our firewall to let automatic windows update through? It works fine outside the firewall/network. Running windows 2000.

Have you tried installing the proxy 2.0 firewall client on the PC? This gives the PC access to some things on the Internet not accessible otherwise.
Another option is to open up the port on the firewall that Windows Update is trying to use. I don't know what that is right now, though.

I tried loading the proxy client, no luck. I was thinking about opening the port on the firewall, but don't know which one it uses. Might you know the port Windows Auto Update uses? Again, the auto-update DOES work OUTSIDE the firewall.
