Windows 7 files and folders deleting themselves

July 5, 2012 at 22:09:29
Specs: Windows 7
I have windows 7. when I try to open a file or folder on my desktop, a window pops up asking am I sure I want to permanently delete this file. I cannot close the popup, it only spawns more and begins to delete anyway. I have tried malware bytes and SAS, eset online, Microsoft Essentials is my security.

have you tried tapping f8 on boot up and selecting safe mode? Once there you can select system restore and try going back to BEFORE the problem.

If the roll back didnt work. I bet its directing though another source. Try picking something you care less about and checking its properties. A lot of autoruns hide origional files, and then create a fake file that opens something else. unhide the desktop for system files and for hidden files and see what is there. if you can post back the target address.
