Windows 7 exe files won't launch

October 27, 2010 at 13:02:43
Specs: Windows XP

I'm using windows 7, Ad-aware ran a scan and found a malware and suggested that I remove it which I did. Now none of my exe programs will launch. I can't access any of the Spyware programs since they are all .exe programs. I've tried accessing the programs directly through My Computer and still the system will not launch any of the programs. I've gone through Safe Mode and try to restore to a previous suggessful launch and that didn't work either. I also tried launching programs in safe mode with no luck.

Any other suggestions? I'm convinced I have a virus, but how do I get ride of it?

I had to download onto a labtop and transfer the file to the infected computer. I followed the instructions and got an error message "Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes."

Any suggessions?

try renaming the .exe file to .com and then double click it...please note do this to the actual executable probably in its programs folder, NOT just the desktop short cut

for example I rename malwabytes executable instead of mbam.exe

works for a lot em!
