I Have the Win32/Parite B virus and ive found out that whenever i run a program it adds a .tmp file to my temp folder in windows. I can delete some but others i can't. I have deleted pinf but i still cant get rid of it. Some games dont work like diablo 2 because it cant read it from the cd drive. Please can somebody help me remove this virus

Don't try to use an anti-virus program, it will not work. Read the reason below before jumping to conclusions.
Think of how fast the virus spreads, I'm still working on removing the virus from my PC. I ran a scan and found 1,373 infected files, I deleted almost 90% of them, then I left my computer. When I came back I did one last scan hoping it would be gone, sure enough, 1,000 more files were infected.
If you try to use Norton or a slow program like that, it only scans a file once... As soon as it scans the file, the remaining w32/Parite.B virus files will immediately attack that file again! I think this is why an anti-virus program cannot completely remove the w32.pinfi virus.
If you need further help, e-mail me.
Maybe we can play D2 together sometime! ;P

Win32/Parite B is a file infecter. The only way you can get rid of it is by using an antivirus program. Or format and re-install Windows.
"I think this is why an anti-virus program cannot completely remove the w32.pinfi virus"
No, It is because of it appending itself to explorer.exe.
If the removal tool didn't work, use a DOS virus scan like F-prot:

thanks for all of your help, I have removed the virus from both computers using Panda software in safe mode. now i can happily play my games, thankyou. P.S Nick, what is your diablo 2 username?

i can't remove the original temp file in which the virus is stored even using after fproft... it says it "cannot be deleted"

Go Here
http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/
And Click On The Partie Icon Close To The Bottom Of The List.
Then Register Yourself.
Download The Software.
And Run It On You Main Drive. (ie) C: For Most People.
The Virus Is Then Removed.

I think kazaa gave me these viruses. I had the Win32 Parite and did everything you've guys tried so far. I think it was removed, then somehow I got the W95 Bumble virus. I had to do a system restore (XP) or in otherwords revert back to an older settings. I tried as far back as the 8th, the bumble virus seemed not to be there but then again was the damn win32 parite!!! I have several anti virus software programs trying to get rid of it once again, if these dont remove it would you sugguest using a dos scanner? I thought XP didnt have dos mode though..... I havent tried running the computer in safe mode and running the anti-virus software, should I give that a try?

In order to use antivirus software in DOS, such as F-prot, you must restart your computer using a WinMe or Win98 startup floppy.
This procedure, however, will work only if you use the FAT32 file system, but it won't if you use NTFS.You can download F-prot for DOS from
http://www.f-prot.com/products/currentversions.htmlSuppose you download and unzip F-prot for DOS in a folder called F-prot on your C drive. In fact, F-prot for DOS doesn't need to be installed as such. You just download the file and unzip it to a folder of its own, then you download two files which appear under "Latest virus signature files" on the same page to update the program, and unzip them to the F-prot folder.
Once you restart your computer using a floppy, at the A:\ prompt you should type
C:\F-prot and press Enter.
Next you write f-prot and press Enter again, and you'll get to the antivirus options.Using the up/down/left/right arrows, you go to "Start" (and you can also configure other options). Where it says "Action", you should press Enter and choose "Disinfect/Query".
Press Enter again, go back to "Start" and press Enter once more.Let the program run. If it finds viruses, it will try to disinfect the file(s). Otherwise, it will give you other options, such as rename the infected file(s), delete it/them, or just report it/them.
Good luck.
Juan

I removed Parite.B with panda software, but it still says i need to insert my Diablo II cd =(
