To make my previous question easier: will repair install of WinXP remove viruses so that when I run virus software right after repair - I can get rid of them? I am talking about the annoying viruses that hang on to explorer.exe and other important "can't be deleted" files. Thanks!

I doubt that repair install of WinXP will remove viruses. If this was true, we don't need AV.

Absolutely NOT! Repair installs only repair broken windows files. EVERYTHING else (virus included) is left intact.

that actually can spread the virus, to more files. depending on the virus.

running the av scan in safemode ,and replacing /overwriting files that are infected ,with
originals or backups. is the way to go.

try the free evaluation version of
TDS-3 anti-trojan
after install- copy the updated radius.td3 file to the tds3 folder in program files.
