Ok. few days ago my computer got this thing on the desktop, some kind of spyware banner. It wasn't a window, so I couldn't close it, but after a few days it was gone. Instead, thier is just white background where it was, and I can't put in a new background. When I change the resolution from 800X600 to something more, it gives me some of the background that had just put on but in the top left corner of the screen it still has the white. Any suggestions on what to do or why this is happening?

You said you "can't put in a new background"? Can you specify why? Does an error come up or something? Hm i don't really know.. But by what you've said i can tell you have an spy/adware problem.
You should install/run 'Adaware' and/or 'Spybot'. You can download them at www.Download.com
I have them installed and run them every once in awhile and almost never see popups/spyware/adware :)

No error or anything. If I change to a higher resolution I see the background that I should have, except for the top left part. I have installed spybot and updated and run it. I have that, spyweeper, and defender pro.
