Hey, does anyone have an opinion or proof of which firewall is the "best" out there, i had a choice of Zone Alarm Pro, or Kerio, which is the better solution for a Home Pc user?

I have, Kerio istalled, and the Xp firewall, and i wanted more, because i dont think you can be too safe, i just opened up Kerio and saw that Setup_WM.exe was connected to the internet, when i made no rules for it and had it on deny unknown, so i was like, hmmm how did that happen?

Or would it be a bad thing runnning 3 firewalls?

Find a firewall you like, tweak it in and then leave it alone to do it's job. You will get as many answers to "what is the best firewall" as there is firewall products. I use McAfee's firewall and very happy with it. Within 15 minutes from taking it out of the box I had it installed and configured. It has saved my butt many times over. Let me end by saying DO NOT run multiple firewalls. They will conflict with each other and possibly leave your PC wide open to all type of attacks.

Underdog is right on. McAfee Firewall uses the least resources and passes all the tests at grc.com and pcflank.com. It's unobtrusive so you can leave it running all the time. It even works with Win95a even though it's not supposed to.

I have Sygate free version.pcflank has some firewall tests also and I passed them. There are so many good free firewalls available. My advice is to check reviews at the sites already mentioned.See what products have the little things that you want, ease of use, configuration, resource usage, ability to pass the firewall tests,etc..The pay versions may have more features/options.It all depends on what you want personally. On a side-note,I tried Zone Alarm free prior to using Sygate. It worked well for me also, and there are free add-ons available. From the feedback on this forum it's safe to say there are many good choices available.Take Care.JB

The firewall that uses the least amount of your systems resources is not McAfee,But Kerio ....
Kerio is one of the Best firewalls you can use.

See I told ya Jamie, everyone has there favorite :). That is not bad by no means, test drive a couple of them and see which best fits you! But just about everyone on here will agree on one thing......get one installed ASAP, if you don't have one already. To many bad guy's out there.
