Who puts out a better antivirus product, Norton or McAfee? The reason I'm asking is because I'm getting ready to purchase some antivirus software myself and I'm looking for some opinions. Thanks!

Neither McAfee or Norton's new products will work with Win95. So yo will need to do some research to either find their older versions or look at other products. I think ETrust from Computer Associates still will work with Win95. You can get a free year trial version at the Microsoft Update area using the "three steps to internet security" to get the link to obtain it. Take care and all the best!

Hauri's ViRobot & Nod32 (among others) still support 95

Tech Support: "I need you to boot the computer."

Customer: THUMP! Pause. "No, that didn't help."

jboy's recommendation for NOD32 is an excellent one. They have the best year to year tests scores of 100% detection results of any antivirus software. You can check out the resulys at the Virus Bulletin. Hauri is a newcomer that is just a few years old, but they seem to be coming on strong with a good product.

"Hauri's ViRobot & Nod32 (among others) still support 95"

Pedantic correction. Should read:

Hauri's ViRobot & Nod32 (among others) is still supported by 95.

Its the OS that supports the application, not the application supporting the OS.

The DOS version of F-Prot is free, and works great on Windows 95. It looks like I need to update my virus signature files.
