Hi,

Whenever I run a netstat command, I get a return that looks somewhat like this...

Proto Local Address Foreign Address State
TCP computer:1189 localhost:1408 TIME_WAIT
TCP computer:1189 localhost:1411 TIME_WAIT
TCP computer:1189 localhost:1412 TIME_WAIT
TCP computer:1189 localhost:1415 TIME_WAIT

Now, I JUST formatted, so I couldn`t have a virus or something... I don`t think so, anyways. I`ve updated all the MS security patches, etc. Does anyone know what those 'localhost' connections are? I usually have any number from 5-15 of those.

as I concern it is ok, since localhost means your computer...

if you run a some servers you can access it by typing http://localhost or ftp://localhost or create a database connection to `localhost`, etc...

and sometimes there is some loopback connection that will visible in netstat although you don't run any server (I also see some connection to localhost occassionally)...

127.0.0.1 is also means localhost

but like I said, maybe someone could explain better about this `loopback` connection (I would also like to read about it) ;)
