Reply: (edit)Had Mcafee-got rid of it. I didn't have a virus program for over 6 months, depended on my ISP's. Mesich told me about AVG(free) and I downloaded it. Three days later I got my first of two Klez viruses. Just clicked enter and it was gone.

Reply: (edit)Go to PC MAGAZINE and read their review of most of the available antivirus programs, the date was 11 June 2002. It is at their website. Of the two you mention, go with Norton 2002 (shop around for a deal), unless you do not have XP. Norton 2001 will be cheaper. Do not get their System Works utility or pay for the Norton Firewall. There are several firewalls that are free that are every bit the equal if not better than theirs.

Reply: (edit)hi brent, If you are looking for the best Anti-Virus, and you want to spend some cash, then take a look at Nod32, followed by Kapersky Labs and a new one called DrWeb. These 3 were rated top in the Virus Bulletin Awards for 2002. If you are looking for free then Computer Associates InnoculateIt would be the best, but as of last month it went shareware, you can still get it for I think $9.95, then there is AVG and AVAST. For more info check out the Virus Bulletin Website for complete stats. Cheers, murve

Reply: (edit)I have AVG, which is pretty good, Norton Anti-virus, which is not that good, and something called ad-aware, which is very good for scanning your registry and finding spyware. However, the first software that detected the Benjamin worm on my PC was Housecall (online). So for detecting viruses they are very good. But for preventing them to come onto your computer, you should use AVG.
