Subject: What is the tempvt.exe file OS: Win MECPU/Ram: 800/385 |
Comment: I recently found evidence of 2 different spyware programs buried in my harrdrive. I took every precaution, maticulously researching the software and deleting ALL associated files. After running the appropriate programs to locate and delete the spyware I still had 1 .exe file I have not been able to identify. It was "tempvt.exe" located in a folder all it's own. I have since deleted the .exe file, but have read that it's an HP driver. I do not like HP products and have never installed any on my computer. Other literature has indicated it to be a virus. Could someone please enlighten me as to this file? I have not encountered any problems at all since it's deletion.

Reply: (edit)All I could find is pretty much what you already stated.Other than that,I would open regedit, and search for "tempvt.exe",or the like, for some possible additional house-cleaning...and/or run your favorite reg cleaner.

Reply: (edit)I found the same file today in a temp folder. It is an HP driver but I can't understand why it was put here. I deleted it and have no other problems.
