Hi,
I am using Windows XP home edition on my computer. I use a modem to dial-up to the internet. Here is what I saw from the Network Connectio in Control Panel:
Connection Manager:
MSN Explorer
Connected Firewalled
Lucent Win ModemLan or Hogh-Speed Internet :
1394 Connection
Enabled
1394 Net AdapterLocal Area Connection
Network cable unpluggedI only use the dial-up modem for the internet which is firewalled, but the 1394 connection is not firewalled. My Questions are:
What is the 1394 connection? Is that a open port to my computer? What is the meaning of "enable"? Do I also connect to the internet with the 1394 connection except the dial-up modem? Is there any security problem with the the 1394 connection because it is not firewalled? When and how to use the 1394 connection?
Thanks you.

IEEE 1394 is Firewire. Its a kind of port on ur computer (like USB). But it is much much faster in handling data (can handle up to 400 Megabits per second compared to only 12 Megabits per second in USB).
It seems that u r connected to the internet only through the dial up modem. Its all aokay. Dont worry
