KbdStub.EXE could be a component used by your HP computer, or else click on the link below.

is there any way to be certain?
i googled it and i saw a lot of links relating to viruses, etc.
not being too computer savvy, it's hard for me to figure this out...

i denied it access and everything seems to be working okay....??

I too have hp now and vista. I did the same as you at first. Near as I can figure it's related to hp's update engine checking for software/driver updates. Most likely for the keyboard.

If you search for the exe file on your system you can find it through advanced search.

But if you try to navigate to it through explore you may need to unhide hidden folders. I did.

Thanks for the replies!
I went to the links you suggested, CNF, the first one references "KDB.EXE"... not "KbdStub.EXE." So... I'm not certain if it's really talking about the one I have on my computer.
What do you think?

If you had a Packard Bell machine & all of a sudden you've got a file -- C:\hp\KBD\KbdStub.exe -- lurking on your machine, then it could be a little bizarre having such listing on the system.

But you have an HP system & you also got RandyL -- another HP owner -- echoing what others have said - that this isn't a spyware, I think that ought to clarify your doubts.

It is a program that activates the multi-media controls on your keyboard.
